If you have any questions you can ask me before or after class or in the morning before morning announcements.
Be sure to check out your Grade Level Page for new updates on our current activities. I added a picture album of all the instruments we have been learning about in class so that you can ask for the instrument you want when it's time to go "shopping" for your instrument for the Partee Promise Song video. Be sure to also check out the Discussions Tab on eClass along with the Content Tab to check out some new activities and games I've posted. If you have any questions you can ask me before or after class or in the morning before morning announcements.

Partee’s Annual Winter Wonderland Concert is just around the corner... Thursday, December 15th to be exact! We have been working very hard preparing our music and have a wonderful show ready to present to you. This year the concert will be held in the GYM in order to accommodate our ever growing crowd and allow for the students to also be part of the audience. Below is the important information you need to know if your child is planning on coming back on the evening of December 15th to participate in the concert.
Well I got a little behind in posting a video of the week due to being sick but I have a really cool (and kinda long) video to share with you this week but it's very cool!!! Many of you left me questions in the survey about the Marble Machine Video (it was the 2nd Video of the Week) and this week's video might answer some of those questions. The guy you see is the inventor/builder of the machine. He will show you how some of the parts work and you'll get to hear how the machine sounds if it's not hooked up to microphones. Watch for the words "Room Sound" and "Line Sound" on the screen. "Room Sound" is when the microphones aren't picking up the sound and what you are hearing is like what you would hear if you were standing in the room with him. "Line Sound" is what the microphones pick up which is why he's wearing headphones so he can hear what's coming thru the microphones. Don't forget to either fill out the survey, leave a note on the Padlet, or leave a comment. I hope you enjoy the video!
In honor of Halloween being next Monday, I found a fun video by the group VoicePlay which is an A Capella group meaning they just use their voices to make the music - no instruments. VoicePlay covered the song "Grim Grinning Ghosts" which was written back in the 1960's and is used all throughout the Haunted Mansion attractions at the Disney theme parks. The title of the song actually comes from a poem by William Shakespeare (a very famous playwright you will learn about in High School). Don't forget to take the survey, leave a comment, or leave a note on the Padlet. I hope you enjoy this week's video!
So I found this cool video a few years ago where music and science is combined. It was created by a musician by the name of John Boswell who lives in Washington state. He's a bass player, remix artist, and video creator. He's done several other videos I will share with you thru the Video of the Week posts. I love how he's taken spoken word and mixed it with music to create a song. I hope you enjoy it!
A QUICK UPDATE ON THE OTHER VIDEO POSTS: I just found out that I forgot to set the Padlets so that you could leave a response...they were set to "read only." I fixed that now so if you were trying to leave a response on one of the last 2 padlets and it wasn't working, everything is fixed and you should be able leave a post.
It's Wednesday which means it's time for another "Check This Out!" Video of the Week. Since so many of you liked the one from last week (scroll down in case you missed it) I decided to give you another Wintergatan video to check out. I like this one because you can see how all the different instruments fit together to make the piece of music they're playing. If you keep watching until the very end (it's a long video) you'll get to see how they built the little music box machine the girl is playing at the beginning. I'd love to hear what you think about the video so be sure to leave a comment, complete the survey, or leave something on the Padlet for me. I'm working on responding to your questions from the other two videos. Be sure to look on the Padlets below those videos for the answers.
Enjoy!!!
I decided to start a new post on the website called "Check This Out!" Video of the Week. Each week I will post a video I've found that I think you all might enjoy. It could be one that we didn't have time to watch in class or one that we saw in class but didn't have time to discuss further. In addition, I will post a survey to find out what you think about the video and a link to a Music Room Padlet where you can discuss the video with your classmates.
Here's your first video and be sure to tell me what you think after you watch it.
I'm looking forward to an AWESOME year this year and am hoping it will be one of the best yet! For those of you that are new here (or are new to Partee), this is the place to find out all the latest information about what is going on the Music Room. Be sure to visit the tabs you see above for anything and everything you could ever want or need to know about the Music Program at Partee Elementary. I will be updating everything for the 2016-2017 School Year over the next few weeks along with posting updates on here, the "Current News" page.
Be sure to check back often for updates and until then... We're busy making music in the Music Room! |
