More detailed information about the concert will be sent home after Thanksgiving Break. In the meantime, students can visit their grade level pages to watch, listen, and sing along with the practice videos I created for our songs.
Remember to always check the Grade Level Pages for practice videos and music for our classroom activities. If you're curious about how I grade students in our performance based class, you can check out the Grading Info page for detailed rubrics. I will be posting more information soon about how we are using Class Dojo in the music room as well.
We've been having a great time the past few weeks jammin' to the Partee Promise Song! Students have been rotating around the room getting to play a variety of classroom instruments. We'll be making our videos soon and using technology (the Socrative Student app) to choose their 1st, 2nd, and 3rd favorite instruments to play for their class video. Since we are a BYOD school, many students have already been bringing their devices with them to class. For students that are allowed to bring their devices, I am recommending they download the free Socrative app (no sign-up needed either) so we can use it more often in class.
Here are a few fun and interesting videos to get you in the holiday mood.
I hope everyone has a fun and safe winter break! See you in 2015!

Please have your child at school no later than 5:45p.m. dressed in a white, red OR green shirt and jeans. Kindergarten and 1st grade will perform first, followed by 2nd and 3rd grade, and 4th and 5th grade will perform last. There will also be a performance by the Partee Dancing Stars. Students may go shopping in the PTA sponsored holiday shop following the concert. When you arrive at school, please go to the following holding room for your grade.
It's that time of year again where we begin preparing for our annual Winter Wonderland Concert. This year, the concert will take place on Thursday, December 11th. It will be an exciting show with lots of great music! Students can practice their music at home by visiting their Grade Level Page and looking for the practice videos I uploaded of each song. Each grade level has a song that all the student's that came before them have learned and then another one I chose especially for them. I will post more information about the concert as we get closer to the date.
Also, be sure to check out the Partee Promise Videos from last year. You will need a password to access this page but it is posted on the whiteboard in the music room. I have uploaded a few grade levels and have just a few more to go. When we come back from Winter Break in January, we will begin making our new videos for this year.

Next up on the calendar is the Curriculum Carnival Concert which will take place in October. More information will be sent home as it becomes available. Students are working on learning their music in class and can use the videos and documents on their Grade Level Pages to practice their songs and instrument parts at home. If you don't see anything listed for your grade level yet, be patient as I will be uploading everything over the next week.
Welcome back to a new school year! I hope everyone had a wonderful summer and is ready to make some awesome music this year! Just a reminder that I post the Specials Schedule along with the Specials Rotation Calendar under the "For Parents" link above. Please make sure you are looking at the correct calendar as the Kindergarteners thru 2nd graders are on a 6 day rotation and the 3rd thru 5th graders are on a 5 day rotation this year.
I am also using Class Dojo in the music room this year. We've already been talking about it during Music Specials and I will be writing a post very soon to explain how students can earn positive points and how this will allow them (and parents) to keep track of their conduct grade in music throughout the year. It's free and students can create their own monster avatars.
If you're new to Partee, we're glad you're here and I hope you have fun exploring all the different things on the website. Remember to check back often as this is the place where you can read all about the latest and greatest happenings going on in the music room.
Back at the beginning of March, over 300 5th graders from all over the county came together at Hebron Baptist Church in Dacula for the 10th Annual Gwinnett County Elementary Honors Chorus. You can watch the concert and see Partee's representatives (Maya Anderson, Lashae Brewton, Adrian Vasquez, and Victoria McDonald) on GCPS TV starting Tuesday, April 1st through Sunday, April 6th at 2pm or 8 pm. There will also be a link on GCPS TV Online. The video currently showing on the site is from a previous concert.
Be sure to check out the Games page as I added a link to PBS Kids which has some really fun and awesome music games.
